Baramulla, Dec 05 (KNO): Asserting that the government is stepping up efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure across major towns in Jammu and Kashmir, Minister Javed Dar on Friday said that J&K youth are power house of talent and no stone will be left unturned to help them achieve their goals. Talking to the reporters after formally laying the foundation stone for the Nagbal Playfield development project here in North Kashmir, Dar, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reaffirmed the government’s commitment to nurture young talent. “Youth of this area had been seeking a sports ground for several years, and this project will cater to their aspirations,” he added. The Minister said that the government is focused on creating modern playing facilities to encourage youth participation in sports. Lauding the Sports Department and the J&K Sports Council, the minister said both have played a vital role in expanding sports infrastructure across erstwhile state. He noted that several new playfields worth lakhs of rupees have been developed. The government, he said, plans to extend similar infrastructure to major towns of Baramulla and Sopore where interest in football and cricket is growing rapidly. The minister said two synthetic football grounds will be developed this year to offer all-weather playing conditions. “There is no shortage of talent here, our job is to provide the right infrastructure and opportunities", he emphasized—(KNO)
